How do I store bread?


Our breads are all natural and do not contain chemical preservatives so they will remain delicious for 3-4 days. Spoilage is quicker in high heat and humidity, so breads keep longer in non-summer months.

Store bread at room temperature. Refrigerating bread actually increases the staling process and dries out the bread.

The best place to store bread is in a dark, dry place such as a breadbox or cupboard. Clay breadboxes are particularly good. Alternatively, a closed paper bag or a sealed plastic bag makes a good inexpensive substitute.

If you are going to be using the bread for a while before re-storing it, place the cut side of the loaf face down on a flat surface to keep the inside soft and the crust firm.

Sliced bread dries out much faster than whole loaves, so only slice as much as you plan to serve. The crust of an un-sliced loaf helps seal in freshness.

Artisan (hard crust) breads should be left in the paper bag provided. Putting Artisan breads in a plastic bag will make the crust soft.  To re-fresh bread from a plastic bag, wrap in foil and put into a 400 degree oven for 15 minutes.

Cranberry Bread

Cinnamon Bread

Oven-Baked French Toast

1 loaf Phoenix Rising Bakery Cinnamon or Cinn-Raisin Bread

1 cup light brown sugar
1/2 cup margarine
2 tablespoons corn syrup
6 eggs
2 cups milk
1 1/2 teaspoons vanilla

  1. Place sugar, margarine and syrup in a small sauce pan and cook until syrupy; pour into a greased, 9" x 13" oven-proof dish.
  2. Cut French bread into 3/4 inch slices and arrange into the oven-proof dish containing the syrupy mixture; set aside.
  3. Blend together the eggs, milk and vanilla; pour over the French bread; cover and refrigerate overnight.
  4. Bake uncovered at 350-375 degrees 40-45 minutes; serve with sausage or bacon.
